Police said burglars are forcibly entering residences to steal key fobs for luxury vehicles like BMWs (X5, X6, X7, M3). A homeowner recently called police after hearing a disturbance outside their home, which officers believe was likely an attempted vehicle theft.
Though no one entered the home, surveillance video captured several people exiting a vehicle and approaching a residence before leaving at a high rate of speed, police said.
Rahway police said residents should enhance their home security, ensure vehicle security, decrease visibility of their valuables and remain vigilant.
Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the Rahway Police Detective Bureau at 732-827-2110.
